Magnificent Large Etched Cranberry Glass Closed Tulip Oil Lamp Shade
Truly a magnificent large and heavy shade this would be ideally suited for a banquet or similar sized display lamp.
This outstanding shade is made from beautiful etched moulded glass with good cranberry and is heavily embossed. The cranberry is lighter at the top blending into a deeper richer shade towards the base. The three large and three smaller panel repeats contain a stylized flower and leaf pattern. There are also fascinating bubble flaws which point to it's late Victorian origin.
The base opening is a little wider than usual and an interesting - what looks to be improvised - brass shade holder which has been silver soldered to a standard duplex type burner gallery is included with the shade - a basic, but clever device which means the shade can be used with duplex (twin wick) burners and also larger types.
Condition is wonderful - near perfect. Try as I might I can't find any evidence of damage, flaking, chips or cracks!
